A native of the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Han spent the majority of his childhood in South Korea before returning to the United States to further his education. He is a 2006 graduate of the University of Oregon, where he received a BA in economics.
His initial career path after college was in marketing at Asiana Airlines and Samsung Electronics, However, Dr. Han soon decided to make a radical change, taking up dental studies at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, where he obtained his dental degree.
Dr. Han’s growing interest in more specialized aspects of dentistry propelled him to enter a postgraduate research program at Boston University’s Department of Periodontology. During his three-year dental anesthesia residency program at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York City, Dr. Han administered anesthesia for more than 2,000 patients undergoing a broad range of surgical procedures, including neurosurgery, oral surgery, trauma surgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, and general surgery. He also spent time treating critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, emergency department, the pediatric emergency department, and received training in anesthesia for pediatric patients in the outpatient dental clinic.
In addition to certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Dr. Han is one of the few dentists to hold certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) from the American College of Surgeons, a hospital-grade training in advanced-level resuscitation.
